Mobile app

Apps published on the App Store and Google Play, from the first screen through Apple's and Google's reviews.

What “published” actually means

An app does not end at the last screen: it ends when Apple and Google have accepted it. Both apps below went through those reviews, from submission to release — listings, screenshots and back-and-forth included.

  • The product before the screens

We start from what is blocking today, not from a feature list. A shared budget and a marketplace do not have the same three essential screens.

  • Both stores

Submission to the App Store and Google Play, listings written, screenshots produced, review feedback answered. It is real work, and it is part of the project.

  • What runs behind it

Accounts, data, notifications, payments: a mobile app is a complete piece of software, not a shopfront to install.

Keeping a budget together happens in a shared spreadsheet, or not at all. Someone fronts an expense, nobody knows where the month stands, and the conversation always comes back to the same place: who paid for what.

Buying and selling second-hand among expatriates happens in messaging groups, where a listing disappears under the chatter within an hour and you never know who you're talking to.
